So now it is 2021. Nikon is behind again (sound familiar?). Sony has launched their market disrupting flagship A1 in April, and Canon their flagship R3 end November. I get an invitation to a pre-launch Nikon Z9 presentation and hands-on trial in mid-November. After the demo I immediately walked over to a camera store and place a pre-order. Lucky me, I picked up my Z9 on first day of availability, Dec 24 and the Z800 on its first day of availability, April 21.

This year I got to witness two Hodgson’s Frogmouth nestings, one in Northern Thailand and one in Southern Vietnam.
The Oriental Bay Owl (Phodilus badius) has been a real challenge (for me) to see, more so than most other peninsular Malaysia lowland owls.
It was good fun taking Noah Strycker around Singapore on Sunday afternoon, December 27th.
This is the smallest of the scops-owls (19 cm)(Robson) in Peninsular Malaysia. It has a large geographic range however it is seldom seen.
The largest of the scops-owls (27-29cm)(Robson) in Peninsular Malaysia, but also the one with the smallest geographic range; the White-fronted Scops Owl is seldom seen and not known from many sites.
My first recorder was a Sony ICD-MX20 which I had seen other birdwatchers using.
